HISTORY
Congress Park is the neighbor to the very famous, Cheeseman Park. Back when the city of Denver was just being built, both parks were part of the same complex. The Cheeseman section being the cemetery and Congress section being the area where the Pest House was located. The Pest House was the house where the cities homeless, critically ill and contagiously ill populace were sent. There was little hope of survival when they were sent to the Pest House due to the conditions and company kept there. After the graves were relocated from the area, Congress Park was born and plotted into 10 subdivisions. Originally known as Capitol Heights, Congress Park has been used by Denver since 1970.
CLAIMS OF ACTIVITY
There have been claims of cold spots and apparitions in the park.
OUR INVESTIGATION
We arrived at about 9:00PM. The weather was cool and cloudy, but the rain had stopped. Almost immediately upon exiting our car, Dillon heard what sounded like a moan and a voice. We looked around but we were the only ones in the park at that time. We headed over to the baseball and soccer fields to investigate first. Ghost Radar(to be known as Radar after this) popped up the word "closer" so we kept heading in that direction. After a few minutes I(Daniel) felt a very warm sensation on the back of my neck and the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I was hit by a very uneasy energy. Pictures showed no evidence and the energy passed after a few seconds. We continued investigating and I saw a dark figure run between the trees near the parking lot out of the corner of my eye. We headed to that area but saw now people around. Dillon kept hearing some sounds but other than that we had no other paranormal experiences in that area. A man walking his dog passed by the swimming pool but he did not stick around, once again leaving us as the only people in the park. We started walking to the southern end of the park and Dillon saw an "orb" pass by the side of his vision. Was not captured on video. Shortly after, the word "drawn" popped up on Radar. We attempted communication but got no response or evidence. I thought I saw a figure walking between the trees near the road. Was not captured on camera but there were no people around. Investigating in the trees, the word "bent" popped up on Radar. We were unsure what the meaning was at first but later on we concluded that it was in reference to a bent tree that Dillon kept getting drawn too. Dillon reported feelings of an odd energy around that tree and said that he felt like a spirit was trying to communicate with him in that area. We got an odd ball of "energy" a few feet in front of Dillon's face in one photo. Shortly after, I thought I heard a mans voice near the swimming pool and then Radar came alive with the words "visit" and "wave." We concluded that we were being told to go to the swimming pool as those words matched perfectly with that location. One the way to the pool, the word "crowd" came up on Radar. We walked around the pool but had no experiences nor captured any evidence. We split off to each do a short solo investigation, and Dillon went down to the bent tree again and I stayed near the playground. I tried the flashlight method to no avail, but heard a loud "thump" behind me. I can't say it was paranormal as it could have been a pine cone falling from a tree, but I can't disprove it either. Then headed back to where I had my experience but no further experiences or evidence was captured. Dillon reported that he continued to feel a presence near the tree but that was the extent of his solo investigation. He did report that the words "crew" and "smell" came up on Radar but we were unable to figure out what those meant. Just before we were going to head out, "horse" came up on Radar so we headed to the rocking horse on the playground. We tried communicating around the horse but had no experiences or other evidence.
In conclusion, we do believe that there is paranormal activity at the park. We would like to go back with better equipment to try to further document our findings.
